1. grumble about

My mother had grumbled about it for years.

grumble about, to keep complaining in an unhappy way.

dic: Farmers are always grumbling about the weather.

my: The poor are always grumbling about the life.

2. rummage through

First it took me half an hour of rummaginng through the garage to find a hammer and a box of snails, a saw, and some pruners.

rummage through, search for something by moving things around in a careless or hurried way.

dic: They rummage through piles of second-hand clothes for something that fits.

my: The thief rummaged through his home to find some treasure.

3. clumps of weeds

The actual yard was just clumps of weeds, but what about the bordering shrubs?

clumps of trees, bushes, weeds, or other plants growing very close together.

dic: a clump of trees bordering a side road.

4. flop into bed

At least that's what I tried to tell myself when I flopped into bed that night, dead tired.

flop, sit or lie down heavily and clumsily, because of tiredness.

dic: I am ready to flop.

Exhuasted, he flopped into the nearest chair.

my: He flopped into bed after work.

5. hold out sth

He may be acting like a coward now, but I do hold out hope for the boy.

hold out hope of sth happening, means that you hope that in the future something will happen as you want it to..

dic: He still holds out hope that they could be a family again.

my: He still holds out hope that she could come back.

6. put my finger on sth

I couldn't really put my finger on what exactly I was upset or uneasy about.

put one's finger on sth, see and identify exactly what it is.

dic: He couldn't quite put her finger on the reason.

Part 2 Summary

Bryce felt regret about the throwing eggs that Juli gave him. Juli felt embarrassed about her yard and wanted to finger out the reason. Unpredictably, she was told that their house isn't their own house, but belong to the landlord. Fortaunately, she didn't let down. She begun to tackle the yard by herself. At that moment, Bryce's grandfather came over and did her a favor. They had a happy chat and became good friends quickly.
