Whatever kamma we accumulate, whether it is good or bad, after we have accumulated, it perishes and leaves the kammic force behind. So whether good or bad kamma after it is accumulated, the kammic force has been left behind [in the five aggregates]. This is the law [of kamma].
Practicing meditation is not to remove kamma, but to remove defilements. After removing defilements, the accumulated kamma cannot give its result; especially the unwholesome kamma cannot give its result [of rebirths] in the four awful states. [Practicing meditation is] not to cleanse the kamma, but to remove the defilement, especially only when we can remove the personal view, sakkhāya-ditthi.
