通往杰出之路，此前讲学习方法和培养习惯，总是会涉及优秀和卓越的最后一步，本章在实验和观察的基础上，揭示了天才或顶尖人才的成长和培养路径——最初的兴趣引导，多是一种玩耍游戏心态，再变得正规严肃，加上专业的指导反馈，不断磨合，订立目标和承诺。
这里也提到了开始得早的好处，然而最感动有一句话是大学学姐曾经不经意道，最重要的教育其实是自我教育。意识到年纪的劣势，却可能看出如何逆转，有清醒的认识，就是最好的时机。
这里稍微讲一下题外的新闻，是某外企的员工查出癌症，长期加班没有相应报酬，却因病被开除的事情。管理者说这文化就是学习曲线。对应自我认识的教育和学习，内因和驱动力不应来自残忍的加班文化和公司压力才是。
