It has been a month since I joined Credit Suisse. This is the first official job in my entire life. Although I did two internships before, this is something totally different. As an intern, I didn't have a seance of belonging to the organisation which I was working for. But as a official staff in the bank, I don't treat myself as a stranger anymore, this is a place that accepted me as one of its own.
In the first month, I was trying to fit in to the bank's working culture, getting along with my buddy and line manager. Both of my line manager and my buddy are very helpful. I was talking to another colleagues during lunch, who was working in my team before. She told me that my buddy is one of the kindest person she had met in Credit Suisse. She's correct, my buddy is very patient when he was walking me through the super complex risk management system we are working on. I feel really lucky to have him guiding me through the environment.
My manager is also very kind to me, he always remind me to do something that benefits me, such as setting up health care, signing up training sponsored my our bank and register to free online resources provided by our bank. He often suggests me to learn some useful technologies and recommends some books for me to read. When setting up my objectives for this year, he also encouraged me to think from the perspective of my self development. I can feel that he is not treating me as someone he has to manage, but someone he respects and willing to be friend with.
I also met some very nice colleagues from other teams, two of them has become my good friends. We don't just lunch together, we also hang out in the weekend. I have also met their partners and even booked a holiday trip together. But unfortunately, both of them are moving to other companies. Obviously, they are getting a salary bump, I'm happy for them.
My working hour is from 9:00 to 18:00 everyday. The good thing is I don't usually need to work over time, but I'm always very busy in working hours. There was once I felt so tired that I almost fell asleep while waiting at the bus stop after a day of work. But when I got my first pay slip, I'm happy to say it worth the effort :)
