Chapter 22: A Warm Wind
It's the last chapter.
And so Wilbur came home to his beloved manure pile in the barn cellar. Animals welcomed him and he hid the sac in a corner very carefully. During the winter, Wilbur took good care of the sac of eggs, on those extremely freezing days, he blew air to the sac to keep it warm. He kept his promise to let Templeton eat his food first, which made the rat grow bigger and bigger. Winter passed soon. One day when Wilbur looked at the sac as usual, one little spider came out, and then one by one they all came out in few days. Wilbur was really happy to see that. He told them he was a friend of their mother and they liked him too. They grew up in the barn, until one day they made balloons with their strands and flew away one by one on a warm day. Wilbur felt lonely when he knew he couldn't keep them with him any longer. But three little spiders told him that they would like to be his friend and stay with him. Wilbur gave them beautiful names and felt joyful again. Year after year, Charlotte's children, grandchildren and great grandchildren became Wilbur's friends, but no one could replace Charlotte in his heart.
