很荣幸，我今年暑假看完了世界名著《远大前程》（书和电影）。
本书作者是19世纪最杰出的作家之一狄更斯，笔端辛辣。
It was written by one of the most illustrious English writer in the 19th Century —— Charles Dickens, in a quite sarcastic way.
读完此书，我重新审视了生命中的许多事情。比如爱和感恩。
After finishing the whole book, I definitely became aware of lots of things in life，like love and appreciation.
主人公Pip是个孤儿，与叔叔乔及朋友们幸福地生活在一起，他毕生所愿是成为一名村里的铁匠。
The protagonist, Pip, was once a poor orphan, but he lived a happy life with his kind uncle Joe and some ordinary friends. All he what was to become a blacksmith in the village.
一天，他被迫用家里偷来的面包和锉刀救了一名叫Magwitch的罪犯。
随后，他邂逅并爱上富家女Estella后相形见绌，以自己的贫穷和愚昧为耻。
Later, he met and fell in love with Estella who came from a rich family by chance, he always compared himself with her, He felt ashamed of his property and foolishness。
因缘际会，他继承了Magwitch的一笔财产并被教育成一名绅士。他开始忽略Joe,并轻视昔日的朋友。
最后，Pip发现了令人难以置信的真相，原来EStella是Magwitch的女儿.随着Magwitch身份暴露，Pip拥有的财富也化为泡影。他认清了现实, 也意识到自己的不足。
Nevertheless, after Pip had discovered the unbelievable truth that estella is the daughter of Magwitch, who is found by police. The wealth Pip owned had gone and he gradually woke up to reality and realized his fault.
Pip宽恕并拯救了仇敌，保护了朋友们，对Joe深深感激。最后，他赢得了真爱。
He forgave and saved his enemy, protected and supported his friends and became grateful to Joe.
In the end, he gained his love.
既震惊又感动，我学到了或许将影响我未来的两件重要的事情。
Being shocked and touched, I learned two important things from the novel which would have great effect on my future.
首先，盲目比较是无效的，尽管人们事无巨细地喜欢攀比。
First, it is no use comparing with others blindly. Humans seem to share a common interest in comparing every detail with each other.
当然，那种找差距促进步的比较又另当别论。
While it may sound reasonable to some extent that comparison makes progress, I hold a different opinion.
众所周知，尺有所长、寸有所短。
As we know, one person differs from another. Everybody has his or her own advantages and shortcomings.
我们的目标应该是扬长避短，盲目崇拜不自省，会让我们逐渐失去自我。

Our goal should be improving advantages and rectifying those bad aspects. If we always adore someone blindly without self-examination， we’ll gradually lose our own character.
盲目攀比是一条不归路。因为山外有山，人外有人，这不会让人出类拔萃。
Comparing with other people blindly is a way with no end, because there is always someone better than us. It can’t make one stand out.
相反，这会让人趋向雷同，缺乏明确的自我认知，造成可怕的社会现象。
On the contrary, it produces numerous people who are all the same, without even a definite view of their own. That would result in a terrible situation.
我认为，人要和自己较劲，与过去的自己相比较。From my perspective, I fully agree on the notion that the only person one should compare with is oneself.
如乔布斯所说，做你认为伟大的事, 爱你所做。
As Jobs said, Do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.
惟其如此，你才能随着时光荏苒渐入佳境。
And like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on.
求知似渴，求贤似愚，我们才能最终实现自我超越。
Stay Hungry. Stay Foolish. we can surpass ourselves day after day.
其次，感恩他人尤其是父母是我从小说中学到的重要一课。
就像Pip的叔叔Joe和朋友们，他们无私的爱和帮助让Pip成长为一个真正的绅士。
Second, I got a deep feeling from the novel that we should always be grateful especially to our parents. They are just like Pip’s uncle Joe and his friends, who have given him love and support which made him a real gentleman.
Pip 最初对他们轻视而非感激，事实证明他错了。
Pip despised instead of appreciating them because he had“great expectations”. He was absolutely wrong.
推人及己，父母养育宽大无限之恩、深爱无欲无求之情，自当铭记于心。
Thinking about ourselves, it is our parents who have brought us up, gave us love and encouragement unconditionally.
因此，无论前程如何锦绣，此恩此情吾辈理应深深感激。
So we should be grateful to them through our lives whatever great expectations we might have in the future，especially parents.
成为一个真正的大写的人，而不仅仅是世俗所定义的成功的人。摒弃浮躁，过踏实有意义的生活，这是我从《远大前程》领悟的体会。
Being not only a successful person, but also a real one. All the above is what I have learnt from 《Great Expectations》, It tells me how to be a worthy person, and live a meaningful life.
