Something such as a vehicle that is a write-off has been so badly damaged in an accident that it is not worth repairing.

If something such as knowledge or information is diffused, or if it diffuses somewhere, it made known over a wide area or to a lot of people.
e.g. Over time, the technology is diffused and adopted by other countries.
