As the vice principle of the school, part of my work is to observe how the teachers and students interacte during the class sessions. I normally navigate in the classrooms on different buildings and floors twice a day, and try to help teachers find out some shortcomes that might become barriers for them while they keep teaching in the same wrong way.
There are four new teachers in the school this year. These newly-graduated university students were appointed to work in our school. It's good to have new members to join in the team. However, it also means loads of extra work because we need to train them strictly and help them become great teachers some day.
Today I went to observe one of the new student teachers' class. She teaches art in grade 5. It is not a good lesson as I predicated. She cannot handle the class very well. She needed to recollect her teaching plan and then utter some instructions spontaniously, which sometimes caused confussion and chaos in the class. The good thing about the lesson is that she has very good insight of drawing and shared her idea with the students. The structure of the lesson is fine.
