For me I prefer to be a follower now. Because I'm not stronger enough to be a originator. In my mind, those people who have guts to be originators are willing to take risks. Just like the first person who eats tomato. Over several centuries passed before the first attempt of eating tomatoes was made. Tomatoes used to be a symbol of love instead of a vegetable for eating. Because of that person's attempt, humans are able to taste this delicious vegetable which contains an amount of vitamin C and A. In that case, I do believe in 'First Mover Advantage'. For example, the Steve Jobs had accepted the risks as a part of his job. Because of his spirit, he empowered himself to set an example for the industry. And the products that designed by him had become hits during the 21st century. On the other hand, some first-movers can be benefited by their attempts, but not all first-movers can be rewarded. The first movers may face high research and development costs. In addition, those people may lack of the experiences of developing new kind of products. It is possible for them to put their experiments on the line. I guess this is why some people describe this situation as 'all or nothing'.
