一 电影背景及故事梗概

The Shawshank Redemption is a film directed by Frank Darabont.It was first showed in 1994.There are two main roles in it,Andy and Red.Andy was a banker who was accused of murdering his wife and her lover,but indeed he’s innocent.And Red was a friend of Andy’s,he can almost buy anything outside the prison.The story goes as following.

The young banker Andy was accused of murdering his wife and her lover and was sentenced to life imprisonment.He was sent to the Shawshank Prison.Red was sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering in 1927.His application for parole had been rejected for many times.He can almost get anything you want if you can afford.Andy asked Red for a pickax and a poster of Rita Hayworth.He was so smart and escaped from the routine inspection.Andy’s knowledge and intelligence let him have a gentle life in prison.He helped the warden make illegal money and the prison guards handle tax problems.He also applied some money for the construction of prison library.A young man’s coming broke the quiet of the prison.He knew the truth of Andy’s case but was killed by the warden.Andy got depressed.One day he told Red some words and made a successful jailbreak.Actually,he had been dibbling all the time using the pickax and the poster as a cover.Finally ,Red got released  and left the prison.They ,old friends,met in the sunny beach in Mexico.

It’s the second time I watch the film The Shawshank Redemption.Every time I see it,I feel impressed.As for the theme of the film,I conclude it as the three words below.

1 wisdom

Andy is a man full of wisdom.One hand,his professional capacity on economic.He earned some beer for his friends because he helped a prison guard  save a lot of tax.Then many other prison guards went and found him for helping them handle some economic problems.The worst was,the warden of the prison asked him to make illegal money for him.Of course,that also made him a rich man after his successful jailbreak.The other hand,he had been dibbling for 19 years,but never been found.Wasn't he smart?

2 insistence

Two things I have a deep impression.First one, Andy writed the state senate  and requested funds from them for the construction of the prison library.He had been  rejected for a lot of times,but he never gave up.He insisted on writting letters,at last ,he built that library.And the second one,after a long time ,most of the convicts  in prison get used to it.Enough time passes ,they get so they depend on it.But Andy never give up his hope,He insisted on working for a jailbreak for 19 years,even he gradually get used to it.

3 friendship

The friendship between Andy and Red also make me moved.They didn’t say any emotional words,but they understand each other quite well.Andy’s harmonica for Red,Red’s poster for Andy,their worries for the other and Andy’s leaving notes for Red are all detailed evidence of their friendship.Their meet on the sunny beach in Mexico starts another trip of their friendship.
