Chypre is French for Cyprus,but is also a genre of perfume which is the combination of five notes-citrus,floral,woody,oakmoss,amber and musk . In 1917,a Frenchman Francois Coty created a perfume of the same name"Chypre de Coty".This eventually became the most talked-about representation of a Chypre fragrance.
The composition of a chypre in modern times consists of various notes such as oak moss,patchouli,amber,fruity and animalic notes(such as civet),with the addition of floral middle notes such as rose or jasmine oil and a bright,fresh,lightly sweet top-note of bergamot or lemon.
