The Oxen and the Axle—Trees
A heavy wagon was being dragged along a country lane by a team of oxen. The axle—trees groaned and creaked terribly; whereupon the oxen, turning round, thus addressed the wheels: “hello there! Why do you make so much noise? We bear all the labor, and we, not you, ought to cry out.”
Those who suffer most cry out the least.
公牛与车轴
几头公牛正使劲拉着货车在乡间公路上行走，车轴被压得发出吱吱的响声，牛回过头，对车轴说道：“喂，朋友，我们无声无息负担着全部重量，你叫唤什么呢？”
那些努力干活的人说的却是最少的。

We all groaned at his terrible jokes. 他讲的笑话很糟糕，我们都发出不满的抱怨声。
creak
英 /kriːk/
to make the sound that a door sometimes makes when you open it or that a wooden floor sometimes makes when you step on it 嘎吱作响（开门或踩上木地板等时发出的声音）
She heard a floorboard creak upstairs. 她听见楼上的地板发出嘎吱嘎吱的响声
