This is Eleanor talking.
The most wonderful thing about an English name is that it is genuinely your name. Unlike your Chinese name which is entirely up to your parents, this time you get to be the one who has the final say.
Some of you may have noticed that my name is just the same as that of the heroine from Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility. Indeed, I named myself after her. ...wow, that sounded better in my head. I loved Eleanor, for her perseverance and gentleness when faced with adversity. It is easy to become bitter in rainy days, but I hope I will become more like her.
Recently I have started my training as a future interpreter, but I know without a sound foundation, I would not achieve anything of great quality. So here I am, at this class, trying to make greater stride with my writing. I will try my best and make the best use of the class, and hopefully I will not let myself down.
