Yesterday was Chinese New Year. Jenna and Pete want to learn more about this holiday. They want to talk about it on their TV show. But they don't know muchabout it. They ask Mr. Lee to be a guest on their show. He is very excited. Chinese New Year is his favorite* holiday.

(Pete, Jenna and Mr. Lee are at Seaside High School.)

Pete: Welcome* to Seaside Talks! I'm Pete Walker.

Jenna: And I'm Jenna Jones. Gong xi fa cai!

Pete: Gong xi ... what? What did you say?

Jenna: I said: Gong xi fa cai! It means: Congratulations! I hope you get a lot of money!

Pete: Oh! Well, I hope you get a lot of money, too! Happy Chinese New Year, everybody!

Jenna: Today we have a special guest! You all know him. He is our teacher, Mr. Zack Lee!

Conversation B

Pete: Welcome to Seaside Talks, Mr. Lee!

Zack: Thank you, Pete.

Jenna: Mr. Lee, why is Chinese New Year your favorite holiday?

Zack: I love it becauseI can be with my family.

Pete: Do you see your family often?

Zack: No, we don't. But at Chinese New Year we are all together.

Jenna: Do you eat good food?

Zack: Yes! My mother cooks very good fish*. We eat lots of other foods, too.

Jenna: Oh, wow! Thanks, Eve!

Zack: Thanks, Jenna. I hope so, too!
