Monthly water situation report
1.Most of the rain across the area fell in the first half of the month.
2.The drier second half of March resulted in soil moisture deficit (SMD) at the end of the month slightly exceeding its historic maximum for the time of year.
3.Overall, river flows were ‘normal’ for the time of year, although all were experiencing reducing flows at the end of the month.
4.35% of the monthly total rainfall (30 mm) fell in the first 5 days of the month with only 10% of the total monthly rain falling in the last 15 days (16th to 31st March).
5.At the end of the month, all catchment hydrographs were exhibiting reducing flows.
6.Groundwater levels at 3 of the boreholes have begun their seasonal recession.
