Chapter 18: The Cool of the Evening
In the cool of the evening, when shadows darkened the Fair Ground, Templeton crept from the crate and started looking for something to eat and tried to get something with words for Charlotte. After his stomach had been full of delicious food, he brought back a piece of newspaper clip to Charlotte, on which there was a word, humble. Charlotte thought it couldn't fit Wilbur any more. Everyone was so tired that they didn't noticed what Charlotte had did on the web. And Wilbur kep talking to Charlotte until he fell asleep, being satisfied with the assurance from Charlotte that he would live for a very long time. Charlotte didn't stay on the web as usual, and she did make a masterpiece for herself and told Wilbur he would know in the next morning. At Arable's house, Fern and Avery were excited and exhausted especially for Fern, because it was the first time for her playing on a Fair Ground. She told her mother what she had done again and again.
