Today is Monday.
Amelia needed more animals and she thought so much about her zoo that she didn't listen to the teacher in the class. Her teacher warned her that she should pay more attention on the class. She said,"That's pie in the sky," which means a future reward after death, considered as a replacement for a reward not received on earth. It was impossible for Amelia to give up her dream. So she still executed her plan and tried to send her note to her classmates on class secretly. But her teacher was so smart as a hawk that she caught Amelia easily. Amelia was kept in detention after school. Her teacher took a kind talk with her and told her, "You can keep your head in the clouds as long as your feet are on the ground." "Head in the clouds" means impractical, aloof, or fanciful to the point of being very unhelpful or counterproductive."Your feet on the ground" means a realistic understanding of your own ideas, actions, and decisions.
In the evening, Amelia shew her parents the notebook where she had written her backyard zoo plan. Her mother praised her good plan and said,"Let us sleep on it." That means to postpone a decision until one has slept through the night. (As if one were going to think through the decision while sleeping.)
