Snow遇到刚从长城回来的叔叔（Ned的弟弟）Benjen，Snow和叔叔讲想加入the
Night`s Watch，Benjen没有答应他的请求。
接下来是Tyrion与Snow的第一次见面。
Tyrion: Your uncle`s in the Night`s Watch.
Snow: What are you doing back there?
Tyrion: Preparing for a night with your family. I`ve always wanted to see the wall.

Tyrion: My greatest accomplishment. And you… you`re Ned Stark`s bastard, aren`t you? Did I offend you? Sorry. You are the bastard though.
Snow: Lord Eddard Stark is my father.
Tyrion: And Lady Stark is not your mother, making you the bastard. Let me give you some advice, bastard. Never forget what you are. The rest of the world will not, Wear it like armor and it can never be used to hurt you.
Snow: What the hell do you know about being a bastard?
Tyrion: All dwarves are bastards in their father`s eyes.

宴会上，
Cat陪着王后端坐，国王却在与其他女人歌舞升平；
Sansa迫不及待的向王后问安，被问及是否来了月事；
王后的双胞胎兄弟向Ned挑衅，被Ned婉言拒绝；
Arya淘气，被Bob带离宴会；
Benjen找到手足无措的Ned，问侯中顺便讨论了一下局势，两人对话如下：
Benjen: You at a feast……It`s like a bear in a trap.
Ned: The boy I beheaded , Did you know him?
Benjen: Of course I did. Just a lad. And he was tough, Ned, a true ranger.
Ned: He was talking madness. Said the walkers slaughtered his friends.
Benjen: The two he was with are still missing.
Ned: Hmph. A wilding ambush.
Benjen: Maybe. Direwolves south of the wall, talk of the walkers, and my brother might be the next Hand of the King. Winter is coming.
Ned: Winter is coming.

作为名词时意为：盛会、宴会（a large meal for a lot of people, to celebrate a special occosion），盛筵(a very good,large meal)，节日，庆曲日(an occasion when there are a lot of enjoyable things go see or do)

Cat: She`s fled the Capital. She says Jon Arryn was murdered. By the Lannisters. She says the king is in danger.
Ned: She`s fresh widowed, Cat. She doesn`t know what she`s saying.
Cat: Lysa`s head would be on a spike right now if the wrong people had found that letter. Do you think she would risk her life her son`s life if she wasn`t certain her husband was murdered?
Luwin : If this news is true and the Lannisters conspire against the Throne, who but you can protect the king?
Cat: They murdered the last hand. Now you want Ned to take the job?
Luwin :The king rode for a month to ask for Lord Stark`s help. He`s the only one he trusts. You swore the king an oath, my lord.
Cat: He`s spend half his life fighting Robert`s wars. He owes him nothing. Your father and brother rode south once on a king`s demand.
Luwin : A different time. A different king.
