开始阅读《为什么学生不喜欢上学》同一个作者的新书:The Reading Mind A Cognitive Approach to Understand How the Mind Reads.
同样也是运用认知心理学来结构的书。这一次关注的内容是阅读。
Introduction
Explain why it is difficult to describe a complex activity in science and why scientist generally will avoid it.
The planning of the book, it actually would involve a lot of basic cognitive analysis of the basic steps of reading.
We should be very careful about its appliances in education because education is more an applied science than basic science.
Chapter One: Start with writing, why we write
To better understand reading, we need to trace the purpose behind a text, that is why we write and how we write:
- write for extension of memory, pragmatic purpose
- write for extension of speech, transmission of thoughts to others
How writing might work:
Pictograph, easy to understand, without any training, but subject to misinterpretation
Logograph, much clear with the direct meanings, but still lack of the nuances to explain the time, exact object and other complicated meanings
Phonetic writing system: that we solve the problem and write what we exactly speak
And the sound thus connects closely to the writing.
