Day 14 2017-02-01 Wed
2nd draft:
327 words, 50 min
The biggest change (improvement) is space and hence functionality. By removing the wall against the living room, you got an open kitchen. Such an extended space enables a more intimate and inclusive time preparing food while lending more light to the living room, especially after another window was carved open beside the existing one near the kitchen door to the backyard.
A sizable rectangular bench table is another new and key element in this successful remodeling. Taking up two thirds of kitchen space in length, it can accommodate banquet meals. Moreover, it serves multi-functions now that the kitchen is an “enclave” of living room. Entertaining, group discussion, project designing, afternoon coffee or homework brainstorming can be outsourced here. To soften the den-vibe brought about by this otherwise clumsy-looking lumber table, new lighting fixture was introduced: two lamps hang low above the table, while the rest of the lighting task is taken care of by 3 small flat lights embedded in the roof and 5 tiny spotlights.
The revamped cabinet gives a better gathering space, convenience and even artistic ensemble. The old cabinet up against the wall was removed: no more uselessly-extra space or secret dust area atop. In replacement, two 3-layer open shelves, installed on the existing countertop all the way to the roof, line the stove unit on both sides. The plates and utensils on the shelves, which come much handier now, are themselves works of art: flat or round, translucent or lustrous, piled up and neatly classified into a dedicated niche. All white, they form a nice juxtaposition with either the scattered greens (live and also newly put) or the portrait-and-landscape painting mix on the side wall of the kitchen, blending well into the overall aesthetic configuration of an integrated room. The old cabinet is remodeled with added layers and drawers, facilitating more categories for kitchen gadgets, making any skeleton or messy arrangement impossible, as well as all high-maintenance homeowner or “gatheringnut” happy at last.

By removing the wall against the living room, you got an open kitchen. Such an extended space enables a more intimate and inclusive time preparing food while lending more light to the living room, especially after another window was carved open beside the existing one near the kitchen door through the outside.
A sizable rectangular countertop/bench is another new and key element in this successful remodeling. Taking up two thirds of kitchen space in length, it accommodates larger meals with more diners. Moreover, it serves multi-functions now that the kitchen is part (enclave) of living room. Entertaining, group discussion, project designing, afternoon coffee or homework brainstorming can be outsourced here. To rid the den-vibe out of this otherwise clumsy-looking lumber table, new lighting fixture was introduced: two lamps hang low above the table, while the rest of the task is taken care of by 5 projecting lamps and another 3 installed on the roof. The revamped cabinet is essential to a better gathering space, convenience and even artistic perception. The old cabinet up against the wall was removed: no more embarrassing (不会表达“鸡肋”,还想用shy,但用不进去) space or secret dust area on the top. In replacement, two 3-layer open shelves, installed on the existing countertop all the way to the roof, line up the stove unit on both sides. The plates and utensils on the shelves, which come much handier now, are themselves works of art: flat or round, translucent or lustrous, piled up and neatly classified into a dedicated niche. All white, they form a nice juxtaposition with either the scattered greens (live and also newly put) or the portrait-and-landscape painting mix on the side wall of the kitchen, blending well into the overall aesthetic configuration of integrated room.
