MORAL: Those who help others often cannot help themselves.
帮助别人的方式不一定适用于自己。(救别人容易自救反而更难。)
MORAL: Don’t listen to flattery.
不要轻信恭维。
MORAL: We all like to criticize what we cannot have.
我们挑剔是因为我们得不到。(吃不到葡萄说葡萄酸)
MORAL: What we see every day, we no longer fear.
经常见到的事物,我们就不再觉得可怕。(见怪不怪、司空见惯)
MORAL: Those who trik others will be tricked in their turn.
戏弄他人的手段说不定自己也会遭遇。(不是不报时候未到)
MORAL: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
听起来过于美好的事都不太可能是真的。

MORAL: Don’t trust selfish(自私的)advice. 不要相信自私的人的建议。
MORAL: Vanity may lead to disaster. 自负容易导致毁灭。
MORAL: Those who say they can help others should first help themselves. 想要帮助他人之前应当独善其身。
MORAL: Think ahead. 先思考(再行动)/三思而后行。
MORAL: Don’t be too quick to change your rulers. 不要急于易主。

The gods help those who help themselves.
尽其所能,顺其自然。 (自助者天助)
We often imagine that others are thinking about us more than they really are.我们总是高估了自己在别人心中的重要程度。
Don't let your successes make you over-confident.不要因为小成就就过于自信。
Stick to what you do best.坚持你所擅长的。

MORAL:
Want too much and lose it all. 想要太多反而得不偿失。
Accept and enjoy what you are.接受并喜欢自己。
We blame other's carelessness, but never notice our own.责怪别人的漠不关心时,往往忽视了自己其实可能也一样。
Listeners never hear good of themselves. 从别人口中容易听到自己的坏话。

MORAL:
Honesty is the best policy.
诚实才是最好的策略。(真诚是最好的套路)
The greater the need, the greater the effort.
追求越高付出越多。
Slow and steady wins the race.
不怕慢就怕站。
We are encouraged by seeing others who are worse off than ourselves.
我们总是从比自己更不幸的状况中获得鼓舞。

Moral:
What is valuable to one person may not be valuable to another.
一个人觉得有价值的东西不一定另一个人也赞同。
Be careful what you wish for.
小心希望得到的东西背后的危机。
Be consistent in your actions.
言行一致。
Laziness often prepares a weight for its own back.
偷懒躲过的那部分总是要补回来的。
Those whom you try to use, will use you in return.
你想要利用的也会反过来利用你。
It is easy for the coward to be a hero at a distance.
有的英雄只是你没看到的胆小鬼。(胆小鬼用距离来伪装成英雄。)

Flattery is a dangerous weapon in the hands of an enemy.
阿谀奉承可能撤成为敌人反攻的危险武器。
Some people are not even worth fighting with.
有些人根本不值得大动干戈。
Don’t bite off more than you can chew.
不要眼大肚小。
Today’s good deeds are the seeds of tomorrow’s blessings.
今日播下的善因总能收获明日的善果。(心存善意定能途遇天使。)
The quarrels of friends are the opportunities of their enemies.
同盟争执之时就是敌人的时机。(鹬蚌相争渔翁得利。)

If you no longer have a good reason for fighting, stop.
没有意义的争执最好还是停下。
Quality matters more than quantity.
质量重于数量。
Better scare a thief than actually catch him.
防贼好过抓贼。
Love can blind even the wildest.
谁都可能被爱情蒙蔽了双眼。
You may share the work of the great, but you will not share the rewards.
共同取得的成就,不一定能共享成果。

If you must fight for something, make sure you keep your eyes on the prize.
如果一定要与别人争执,请先考虑好代价。
Better to learn from the mistakes of others than from your own.
犯错误之前学会从别人的错误中学习。
There is always a better liar than you.

Don’t hurt those who try to help you.
别误伤了想要帮助你的人。

Professionals will always do a better job of anything.
任何事情专业人士要更擅长。
We don’t see our own faults, but our neighbors do.
我们自己看不到的缺点旁人能看到。
Don’t try to please two people at once.
不要同时取悦两个人。
Each of us is the hero of our own story.
我们总是自己故事里的英雄。
It is one thing to think of a good plan, and another to put it into practice.
想好计划的需要同时付诸行动。
