Today is Monday.
I am going to read another book in my list, Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel.
Mike Mulligan had a Steam Shovel, a beautiful red steam shovel whose name was Mary Anne. Mike Mulligan was so proud of Mary Anne that he always said that she could dig as much in a day as a hundred men could dig in a week, but he had never been quite sure that it was true. When somebody watched, they would dig faster and better. They had been dug for many years until one day the new shovels came. No one need them any longer, which made them very sad. Mike read a message on the newspaper that people wanted to dig a cellar for the new town hall in Popperville. He took Mary to the town and told the selectmen that they could finish the job for only one day. If they couldn't, they wouldn't get any pay. The selectmen agreed with him. In the next morning, Mike Mulligan and Mary Anne started to dig. A little boy came to watch them. And Mike Mulligan and Mary Anne dug a little faster and a little better. The boy noticed that and got an idea.
