印度之行:
My name is Benny,I am from China. The reason why I come to India is to experience the different culture of different country. Before I come to India ,I thought India is a poor and weak county. But after I come here,I have already changed my mind.Although some area, some people are still poor, but the majority area of India have been well developed. My project was last for 3 weeks, my job here was to educate children. But before I come here ,I thought the children I teach must be well-educated and good at English. However, the children they come from the extremely poor family.Because their parents don’t know to have less children, so most of their family are huge with more than 10 people. The most terrible thing is that their parents can only earn about 7000RS for each month.I know the amount of money are not enough to support them to finish their study for 12 years and it is also possible for them to go to private school.Because the private school’s students are come from better family, and most of the government school’s students are come from the poor family which their children are not so willing to learn but go to work.It is a really tough questions for most of the Indian children. If they go to work ,they can earn more. But if they choose to go to school, their parents will have to pay their tuition. It will bring a big trouble to their family ,it is a really complex problem to solve.
In the first day I saw the children,I was so shocked that they wear dirty clothes and without a pair of good shoes. It is the first time I see children in such a poor condition,I have never seen children in china in the same situation. After that ,I am very happy to find that they really love study, although they speak little and poor English ,they tried their best to express their feelings to us.For the boys, they are very smart and intelligent.I found that a little boy who is only 8 years old can easy solve the difficult math questions that given by us.But the local interns told me because the boys didn’t get a chance study in a better school to improve his math skill. And for the girls, they are also willing to learn but not as good as the boys. Most of them can not write down their name in Hindi and the English alphabet. But they still keep asking us for homework and want us to teach them more. They are very willing to learn but they dont have a good environment for them to show their potential.
In the last three weeks,my project was to explore the culture and schools in the southern india. We went to a wedding. Unfortunately we just saw the last part, when the couple come inside again and they play the game with the rings. We had also a opportunity of talk with them and take some photos. We took breakfast in the wedding, where we had a lot of different dishes of choose. And when we go to Tirumala, we have to climb 3500 steps and 9km for approximately 6 hours. It was so tired and difficult for us but we succeed. However, we are so shocked to find so Indian they climbed this mountian by their knees,it is painful and terrible but i think this is the best way for them to show their belief to their beloved god.
And with the help with the local organization,we are able to visit the local factory in kadapa which is one of the small city in india. The factory use local women as their labour, and they only need to pay 5000RS(500 yuan) for per month without insurance, food and transportation fee.But most of the workers they are so happy to have a stable job and 5000RS it is enough for their living. The boss of the factory in my eye,he is so mean and doesn't care about his workers.
The most interesting thing for me is to have a complete idea about all different levels of indian schools, we visited an average private school; Pushpagiri Residential Public School were they arranged a whole welcoming ceremony for us.
First the kids welcomed us with the NCC parade. Then, on a kind of conference room, we listened to the headmaster speech, some of the students did also a speech about the indian educational system, the culture and the traditions. We had also to give speeches about our indian experience and about quality of education in our respective countries. We have been also celebrating the Rocky Festival, so we were like kings and queens receiving our scarfs and our flower necklaces and having our new sisters and brothers offering us our hand bands. After assisting to a yoga and meditation session, we have been visiting the classrooms, meeting the students and talking with them. After having a traditional lunch, we played some games with the students like coco, kabbadi and cricket.
It`s important to mention that what we appreciated the most about this school is the efforts all the working crew is making to transmit all kind of moral values and good behavior to the students and we could really see that in their very respectful way to do things.
Anyway, with the help of love care foundation and aiesec.I can successfully know and learn the situation of education system in India. It is so nice to help people and it is my pleasure to be an volunteer for love care foundation.Thank you for providing me a good chance to experience India, thank you.
