今天来说说To have a healthy disregard to impossibility
面对质疑,要相信自己有能力而为之。机会从来都是自己争取来的,而不是在原点等待着从别人手里接过机会。
《小王子》里那位坠入沙漠的飞行员,儿时对自然事物有着独特的感知,他拿起画笔,记录下蟒蛇吞噬动物的情状。他拿着画去给大人看,可换来的却是大人的否定。
大人们的耳朵忙着听车辆疾驰的鸣笛声、听航班起降的冲击声和世间一切喧嚣繁杂。对于春雷鸣响、夏夜蝉鸣、秋收金曲、冬日诗话充耳不闻,无暇顾及。大人们的眼睛看不见花草树木、鱼鸟虾虫,也感受不到暖风拂面,四季更迭。大人们对他说画画没有好处,地理历史数学与文法才是有用的东西。
于是他放弃当画家了。
面对小王子发出的画羊邀请,他开始质疑自己,因为没有学习过,所以他不知道如何画画。好像没有经过系统学习,就不可以崭头露角;好像经历过否定,就再也没了自信。与小王子分别,他用画笔记录下这位朋友,但还是没有把握,因为自己没有得到充足的解释,他找不到一个标准来衡量对错。
过来人总爱拿已有的经历来磨灭一个年轻人的热情和拼劲,却不知道没能力和没意愿中间差的是一颗真诚跳动的心。也许热情和拼劲终有一日会磨灭,但若执意与自己较劲儿呢?十年饮冰,难凉热血,若有意愿便会拼尽全力而为之。这一腔热忱泯灭与否,只由行动证明。年轻就是值得希翼后浪滔天,未来可期。不给自己设限、不认命,用行动验证自己所信奉的真理:抱之赤忱,必有所得。让理想主义不败给现实的方法,就是明知道大道无常,却坚信只要前行不退,就定会峰回路转,柳暗花明。虽千万人退而避之而吾独往矣。
我读英文书时也像那位飞行员一样,渴望听见一个声音来告诉自己可不可以做。怕自己英文阅读能力不够而导致理解偏差,于是对照着现有译本句句斟酌;怕自己想得太多而导致观点偏离主流,于是刷着高赞书评取经问道。我为能否使用自己的想法而向译本和书评请求许可,也许我跟那位飞行员一样,不能透过箱子看见小羊,我大概有点像大人了。我开始对对数字感兴趣,每天都关注着阅读量、分享量和关注量。就像大人们对小王子的声音没有兴趣,只想知道他的家境;大人们对房子里石砖的质地、家具的颜色和屋顶上的鸽子没兴趣,只对房子的价值有兴趣。在成年人眼里,只有数字才能算是重要的事情,因为与数字有关的事情总是能够满足虚荣心。但他们并不知道数字本身毫无意义,热情才能够创造意义。
于是我关掉所有的书评,拿着原文用心感受,逐字逐句开始头脑风暴,最终短短的稿子,是从无数奇思妙想中删减来的。我不再请求许可,而是在不断尝试不断改进。行文中流露出的真情实感,也总有如小王子一般的人,不必我过多解释就能感同身受,这种认同也不是数字可以衡量。所以,我跟那飞行员不一样,我能够通过箱子看见小羊,我还没有成为大人。
如果飞行员小时候对自己的内心多一份认可,那见到小王子时,也许就是一位去沙漠写生的画家吧。
