Despite the fact that every child’s life is influenced by his or her family, other factors outside the family cannot be ignored, which play a bigger role in a child’s growth. I quite approve of the above view.
Admittedly, parents’ different ways of raising children affect children’s lives physically and psychologically. Furthermore, since the relationships with parents and other family members are unique and critical to children’s social development, family characteristics and children’s experiences within their families appear to be important to children’s overall development.
However, besides families, young minds need the right combination of care and independence, empowerment and challenge for their development so they can thrive in their lives. It is a well-known fact that teachers are definitely great shapers of children and influence what they will be in the future; consequently, teachers who are able to inspire, support and provide appropriate care for their students certainly impact more enormously on their development. To be specific, the big data study has found that students from families with limited education have the strongest long-term response to teachers’ encouragement, which is more significant to their growth.
In addition, although children begin their lives in their families, they are introduced to the social world of peers and friends as they grow up. Therefore, peers and friends are essential for their their social, cognitive and emotional development. By interacting with children of their own age, kids learn how to cooperate and collaborate with others. More importantly, peer interactions not only foster communication skills but also develop creative, problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
All in all, there is no denying that family may influence a kid’s life greatly, but elements outside the family such as teachers, peers and friends are more influential for a child’s development.
