I always think that I'm not a smart or talent girl. However, when I was a student at school, I wanted to become a good student and wanted to perform very well from the deep of my heart. Therefore, I worked very very hard as a student. I often did my homework very seriously and reviewed what I had learned at school till midnight. As my grandpa and grandma was sleeping at night, l was studying at my little study room. My father was always busy making money when I was a middle school student, and he once said that I could not go to any college or university. But in the year of 2008, I succeeded in getting a place at Tangshan College. I majored in English, and after I graduated from the college four years later, I become an English teacher at a little primary school in the year of 2012. I also make a success in my work, and I am very popular among my students. Yep, I am not a talent person, but I do not give up and always have passions to try my best to do things well, which I think is the most important and influential part of my Life.
Grit is defined as, “perseverance and passion for long term goals”. People who have grit stick with their goals for years even when there are set backs and failures. The author of this book conducted many researches to discover if grit could predict success in various situations. Most people would agree, at least anecdotally, that individuals who work hard with practice and diligence may be successful despite of a lack of natural talent. To this end, grit may provide additional explanatory power for predicting success.
Among the almost 200 students that I have taught during my six career years, there are two students, named Li Wenhui and Guo Shuhao, who make a very deep impression on me. They were in the same class in the primary school where I work. li Wenhui who was the monitor in my class and was enrolled by No.1 middle school, is a smart and talent boy, and he performs very well in his study except his English learning. He is not such interested in learning English and donot work hard to improve his English study, so he gets low scores in English exam, however he can always get high marks in the other subjects. Guo Shuhao, on the contrary, was an underachiever in my class. He is not excellent in the study. He even could not pass most of the exams in the primary school. When he was in grade six, he took part in the sports meet held by our county and got the first place. Thus he was enrolled by No. 2 middle school as a student majoring in physical training. He cherishes this opportunity very much, so he trains very hardly. He tells me that he wants to go to the university, therefore he will not give up although he gets hurt many times in the training. All his coaches appreciate him very much, and he does make an achievement in his major. What is impressed me has been his considerable firmness of purpose.
Consequently I think I should teach my students more about the passion and the perseverant attitude towards the study and any other things they involved in in my future teaching, which I believe can help my students make their successes both in the study and in their whole Life.
