Today is Monday.
Diligence redeems stupidity. Clever people may be victims of their own cleverness. Those are two old Chinese proverbs. Most of the Chinese people know them but I don't think many of them think they are right. When I was a child, I was regarded as a smart boy. I could get a good score without spending much time on studying. I was praised for my cleverness by the people around me. And then I entered into the best middle school of the city I lived. I gradually found it was not as easy as before to get a good score. But I didn't know how to make progress yet. I didn't know how to study hard. I indulged in playing video games and wasted my best time on playing but not studying. I regret very much now.
People always think it's good for a man to be clever. They think that telling a child he is clever is a compliment. However I think it would really ruin a child. The best way of praising is not telling him he is clever, but telling him he is hard-working. Most of us are not very different on the intelligence quotient. The most important thing for a man is how hard he could study.
