Just finished a little chat with one of my old friend. I could find a great depression in him, probably placed by his family members or himself, however well-being he might seemed to the others. Sometimes, in concerning what makes us full human-beings or what consists of our happiness, people usually tend to the answer of money, or things related to money. Indeed, such a utilitarian idea could not be denied if one's ultimate goal is to make as much money as possible in his life. And I'll encourage you to keep on it, just go for it. At least you have something to strive for.
However, my friend, seemingly free from any sufferings thanking to his capable merchant family, was not actually as happy as that he often revealed to us. As we all know, in a big family, especially in the merchant one, the younger generations usually don't dominate their own lives, their parents do. Likewise, my friend spent most of the time helping his family with trifles, engaging in bunches of businesses that were not belong to himself. As a result, he got lost. In facing with questions like "What's your plan in the future?", or "What do you want?", he will fail to give you an answer, or simply "No idea."
He is not alone in losing dreams, as there are so many youngsters living in cosy lives facing with the same problem as well. They appreciate everything given by their parents, being capable assistants for their parents with great gratitude, and not daring to put forth any requests that are beyond what parents have expected them to be. They feel a strong obligation to pay back their parent's love. Thus, resulted from their obedience, these disciplined youngsters have different degrees of repression of their real desires. Some of them are dared enough to stand up for their wants, though, attempting to get supports from parents, most of them fail to make the table turn——they are very likely to be frustrated later on. As for my friend, he had turned to his parents for several times, trying to clarify his future, but all of which went nowhere in the end——he failed time after time to find out what he wanted, what mattered to him and how he could live a full life. Besides, one will not get excitement with things that well-arranged, unless they've paid their own perspiration for it.
Anyway, I believe in special arrangements given by life. Everyone will find himself a unique task to fullfill, an exclusive territory to dominate, or a special field to dig in. All we have to do is to find it, and chase for it with what said to be the 1% of genius plus 99% of grit. Having a zeal for something is such a great joy that really deserves our try. It is an endless power that pushes you forward, helping to maintain one's sense of satisfaction, of achievement, and of being valued to some extent, so that he will not lose himself in front of the cross of life.
Life is never easy for anyone, no matter the rich or the poverty-striken. It's one's mindset that makes difference.
Best wishes to my friend.
