What is the aim of the Black Lives Matter organisation?

The organisation was formed by the African-American community in 2013 and aims to campaign against discrimination and racism against black people, mostly in the United States.

What motivated this organisation to form?

The founders, Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, Opal Tometi wanted race equality and saw the racist acts done upon the black people. They formed the organisation because they wanted to try protest and make people aware of what they wanted to stop. The motivation was the constant discrimination against black people, that they counldn’t witness.

Strengths

The organisation is global and so they get a good platform to display their news and can easily get people to come and join or help them or understand the feeling.

It allows the people of the world to participate and rather being something that you would join like a conventional organisation, it was a movement. This drafted thousands of people and gained a lot of government attention.

Weaknesses

The extreme protests and street parades can be dangerous and police have been recorded killing black peoples during those protests.

There is no main goals that have been set to try to resolve the problem. Like having gatherings and introducing some short term goals to try to actually resolve the issue instead of just raising awareness.
