Good evening, members and guests, I am Elena. I attended the Fall Xian’s conference last month and it’s also my firsttime to attend such wonderful conference. It is so amazing, fantastic and brilliant! I have met so many fantastic guys, they are confident, energetic,positive, proactive, and also good speakers. More importantly, I learned a lot from this conference. So, tonight I am going to share with you about Xian’sconference. What’s a Conference? And what happened in Xian’s Conference.
Before we start our main body, I’d like to introduce the basic knowledge about Conference.At present, the conference is hold twice a year, the spring conference and the fall conference.The Xian’s conference is a fall conference hold on 28th.Oct.2016——30th Oct. 2016, three days.And This is a district conference（大区峰会）, Our club belongs to District 88.
The most important part in a conference isthe contest , three kinds of contests.
1.Mandarin Humorous Speech Contest Final(中文幽默演讲比赛决赛)
2.Evaluation Contest Final(点评比赛决赛)
3.English Humorous Speech Contest Final(英文幽默演讲比赛决赛)
And there are also other session,such as :workshop,keynote speech,round table，Gala Party and so on. I will introduce later.
As there are so many sessions on this conference, I will introduce each session according to time order.Let’s beginwith the first day.
1.第一天
**The first thing **we had to do is registration,so that we can get the agenda,Manual,Souvenir, meal voucher and so on. Our club student members who attended this meeting were volunteers.They were working.
In this afternoon, after registration, **the Mandarin Humorous Speech Contest Final **was hold on 3 o’clock.There were 8 contestants and their stories were so funny. Laughter is almost never stop.
The champion shared his stories about being a hero. When he was young, he was dreamed to be a monkey: Great Sage Equalling Heaven（齐天大圣），so that he can protect the world. When he grew up and experienced some setbacks that he realized that the hero maybe someone who just keep on doing some ordinary things. Everyone who has made efforts to make the world better is a hero.Very impressive and touching speech.
I found that good speech comes from daily life, then told by a funny way and Inthe end let audience get some message.
The third session was a First-Timer's Gathering for those who attend conference for the first time.The host ask theaudience what they have got from TMC and their growth. From the audiences’answer I felt their love for TMC and TMC brings them with courage, confidenceand happiness.In addition,TMC lets us know so many wonderful friends and be abetter person. And there was an interesting phenomenon: Toastmaster, is notonly where leaders are made but also where couples are made. Because so manycouples shared their stories.
The forth session was a** Leadership Forum**（领导力论坛）. The DTM shared his experience about leadership.
The most important lesson I learned is that being a officer needs to take more responsibility. And when you take more responsibility you can grow fast and better.
In the evening, there was a** District Council Meeting** (大区官员会议) . Those reports are about clubs growth in District, including many aspects.
Jinan Wins
As we all know that** Jinan** has got the right to hold 2017 Fall Conference (2017年秋季峰会举办权) . Our area director（小区长）Jason delivered a bidding speech, introduced the beautiful scenery in Jinan the rich culture in Jinan and Jinan’s warm and hospitable toastmasters.And we won the right to hold 2017 Fall Conference, which is a very good opportunity for clubs and members in Jinan.
2.第二天
Opening Ceremony
In the morning, there was the most exciting Opening Ceremony（开幕式）.Every club representative were walking the red carpet with theirclub banner. It is called banner show.When you see your club banner, you willfeel seeing Jinan toastmasters banner,we felt a sense of proud.And all the club took pictures on the stage.
Then our District Director: Yang Zhao, DTM gave the Open speech (开幕式演讲), sharing his own growth experience in TMC.
Next, There were so many greetings for Xi'an conference : greetings from ** International Director: Nagaraja Rao **;greetings from Regional Advisor : Alex Cheng and Greetingsfrom Other Districts.
I want to share with you about Alex’s speech.His words are very inspiring .
If you just to be a common member, you just change from 0 to1. If you want to be a 100% member, what can you do?
1. Join the conference.
2. Join the contest.
3. Change your speech.
4. To be an officers, to take responsibility.You involved more, you love the orientation more.
Keynote Speech
Keynote Speech (主题演讲) Speaker,KingiBiddle,he shared us with some tips to deliver a speech.
Such as:
If you look at sunset, sunset is in anillusion, but beautiful is real.
Messages are usually the same, but the wayyou said is unique.
When you have nothing to talk, look within yourself.
Everything you talk, I can feel it, I cansense it. That's who you are !
Evaluation Final
Next was the Evaluation Final (评估比赛决赛). The target speaker Edward delivered a speech: The return of the King. And the 8 contests gave their evaluation. Their evaluation are very professional. And some suggestions maybe useful for us.
Such as:
Move with purpose.
Use more pauses because pauses are louder than words.
DTM way: delivery, true feeling and makethe message memorable.
Repeating the message three times at theend for the audience to take something away.
Workshop
Workshop(工作坊) is very usefuland you can choose the topic that you are interested.And I learned a lot from the workshop session.
Such as Lin Gao: lead as coach.How to use coach technique in our life.
Carol will share it with us in later meeting.
Samuel: How to prepare and deliver tabletopics
Harry will share it with us in the later meeting.
Round Table session
Round Table(圆桌会议) session is thatyou choose a topic that you like and communicate with others.You also can ge
t alot from it .
Gala Party
**Gala Party ** (Gala 晚会) is the most happinsss and interesting session.Our Division Director Sophie danced very graceful.
And these children are toastmaster children, their parents are toastmaster’s members.
第三天
English Humorous Speech Contest Final
**English Humorous Speech Contest Final **(英文幽默演讲比赛决赛) was the highlight of the conference. The first Place, Blair Long’s speech is wait is a test. Wait is not a waste, but a test. When you are ready, you’ll be determined and patient, and finally pass it.
But after listening Alex Fang’s Speech, we thought that he was the champion.Unfortunately, his spoke over time. It’s no big deal.His speech is “it’s no big deal”.It’s no big deal to have depression, and it’s no big deal to talk about it. We should pay attention to time control.
The fans of him were talking to him. And I am one of them.
Keynote Speaker Workshop
Next was Keynote Speaker Workshop KingiBiddle:Paint the picture in my mind with words.
He used two examples: describe the riverscenery and describe the first time you step into the TM meeting.
So we know that we can
Elaborate things as detail as possible fromcolor, size, position, etc
Describe things from different angles,listening, view, taste, feeling, etc
We can use these tips in our speech.
Hall of Fame
The next session was Hall of Fame(荣誉殿堂). Manykinds of awards. Our member Jason and Jamie were on the stage.
Distirct Officer Training
And the last session was Distirct Officer Training(大区官员培训)
My Thougts
Before I attended the Xian conference, I heard that a conference equals to 20 times regular meeting. I was doubted about that. But after attending the conference, I have to say that’s true!The conference is is so amazing, fantastic and excellent! And 2017 Spring Beijing Conference and 2017 Fall Jinan Conference are coming.Hope that you will attend. Especially the Jinan conference.
