大家，这是我第一次在一个中国写作平台把我在最近5年对全球教育行业的信息整理一边。希望大家多多包容，我的中文的确写的很一般，所以会用英文分享我的感受。
Hi everyone, so lately I’ve been thinking about putting together some of the latest educational resources from around the world for us to have a clearer understanding of what we can expect to see in the coming future. As I’ve been spending the last few years combing through the web and talking with education professionals in China and US, I’m starting to be better informed about the changes in education in particular to how and why we learn things.
The education system today in most countries hasn’t really been suiting up for the current generations (and many to come) in terms of the suitable job fields. Part of this is the disruption of technology in many industries (such as in the medical, engineering, commercial, etc.) and another big element is our generational differences (cross age gaps & globalized competitive arena - where jobs keep moving around). This has posed alot of major issues from what we’re suppose to teach at school, how we learn and why do we even bother learning it? I think in a large sense, we’re in an era of conflicting dynamics but in an even larger sense a very confused society. Should we even bother with change when the education system itself isn’t keeping up with the changes in the job field? If you comb through the different job reports over the last few years, you’ll see that there’s a drastic movement away from traditional “find a job at a big company” to “let’s freelance” into more widely diverse jobs…this isn’t to say that the younger generation are lost, but rather an indicator to state that their current skills & interest don’t lie in what many of the larger firms can offer. Furthermore, it’s a critical challenge for education to play a deeper role in triggering student’s interest into more diverse fields, increase their skillsets in cross disciplinary areas & most important build their character to withstand change in this VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) era. With that, I’ll end this post with some key readings until next time.
