I had no aversion to snowfall because it very much rightened up my room, so much so that I could almost do without lamplight at night. The distant mountains would remain snow-capped for at least half a month 一a scene I could easily enjoy from my window.
解析：
第一句：下雪原是我所不憎厌的，下雪的日子，室内分外明亮，晚上差不多不用燃灯。”
译文：I had no aversion to snowfall because it very much brightened up my room, so much so that I could almost do without lamplight at night.
1、“憎厌”这句，参考译文用了一个名词aversion加否定词，aversion的意思是 a strong dislike of something or someone。 have an aversion to sth 就是指讨厌某物/事
夏天主编说：没有使用诸如I didn't dislike或者I was fond of⋯⋯再或者the snowy days is not what I⋯⋯这种句型，使用aversion 行文很地道。
aversion，hate，dislike，都可以，loathe有一点词意过重。
2、“下雪”，包含动态，译文用snowfall这个词语，要优于snowy days。
3、do without 这个固定词组，含义是没有⋯⋯也行，没有⋯⋯也无妨，是一个地道的表达。
4、“燃灯”，中文是动宾结构，译文直接使用了 lamplight，含义是 the soft light produced by a lamp ，如果用中文表达就是“灯火”，所以lamplight在英文中就是一个很诗意的词汇。
夏天主编说：之所以没用类似snowfall这样的动感词汇，是因为英文中对应“燃灯”的单词很少见。要表达出与“燃灯”近似的诗意，lamplight是一个很火的选择。要比用lighten,brighten,burn等词汇加lamp要好的多。使用这些动词加lamp，一则比较繁琐，二则将诗意世俗化。
第二句：远山积雪足供半个月的观看，举头即可从窗中望见。”
译文：The distant mountains would remain snow-capped for at least half a month -a scene I could easily enjoy from my window.
1、“积雪”译文用remain snow-capped，注意此处用cap的ed分词起形容词作用。
夏天主编说：这篇散文《白马湖之冬》，之所以最早练习的时候就告诉大家篇名和作者，就是希望能理解文章写作背景。我们知道白马湖在浙江，南方的雪一般只会积雪在山顶。
不用snow cap是因为snow cap多用于气象学表达雪盖，雪冠，用在这里就与整体文学诗性不符。同样，使用snow cover（积雪层）在文学翻译中也无法被接受。
翻译必须注意文本的特质，避免用语和原文不和谐。
2、remain，这个词与“足供”、“半个月”这两个表达延续状态与时间段的词，非常契合。
3、a scene的运用，实际上a scene是The distant mountains would remain snow-capped for at least half a month的总括，起同位语的作用。
4、“举头”的处理。参考译文是略译了。原因在于原文的意涵是“一抬头就可以看到山景雪景”。也就是说很容易可以欣赏美景。并且众所周知，看远方的话，肯定没法低头用眼角余光看到。因此，抬头这个具体动作就可以略去了。
