Day 8, 2017-01-22 Sun
168 words, 2.5 hours
It's too late when the antelope notices the stalker. Still, thanks to its lean build, the bovid manages to take on the race and runs for its life.
But the almighty cheetah is dominating the game, chasing the graceful grazer at a speed of 70 mph to which it was able to raise from 0 just 10 seconds ago when it was still 200 yards away.
2 minutes later, as the devil predator gets close enough, it mounts its massive paws towards its prey on the back and is ready to spell doom with its fangs.
Despite the close call, the sheep just won't cave.
It makes a crash-stop and turns instead. Unprepared for this nimble sudden manoeuver, the beast found its fangs buried in mere empty air.
This split second also gives a narrow opening for the antelope to escape the jaws of its arch enemy, who has exhausted its stamina, anyway. The antelope thus sprints off into the distance.
“Not today”.
That we say to Death.
写作的过程就像时间的意义,连接了过去,维持了存在;
挣扎的思考重新触动了印象模糊的概念,激活了表达,花3小时也值得。
因为Day 4已经写了本应今天写的任务,狗急跳墙,先写了这2行:
It was too late when the antelope noticed the danger.
“Not today”. That we tell the God of Death.
Day 4要求只写外貌……
The beast leaped resolutely towards the prey. Judging by the degree of the slanting limbs of the cheetah, and by the breathtaking desperation of the antelope, its game, their speed could well have topped 70 m/h.
In this one last charge, the muscular mighty back swung almost the whole cat up in the air. The black spots on the light-brown coat, especially the bulged ones on the brawny tail due to the formidable dash, establish the predator’s unrivalled position among its mammal kin in a deadly fashion: the more “zoomed” in, the more doomed.
The tail, lifted high up in a near-vertical way, defies all disobedience. Looking dominantly upon the target, the killer casted the claws, and sentenced it, irrevocably.
