2. Breakfast or lunch

Text:

It was Sunday. I never get up early on Sundays. I sometimes stay in bed until lunch. Last Sunday, I got up very late. I looked out of the window. It was dark outside. "What a day!" I thought. "It's raining again." Just then, the telephone rang. It was my aunt Lucy. "I've just arrived by train," she said. "I'm coming to see you."

"But I'm still having breakfast," I said.

"What are you doing?" she asked.

"I'm having breakfast," I repeated.

"Dear me," she said. "Do you always get up so late? It's one o'clock!"

Summary writing:

The writer always gets up late on Sundays, and so did he last Sunday. His aunt Lucy telephoned him and told him that she had just arrived by train and was coming to see him. But the writer was still having breakfast. His aunt was very surprised because it was already one o'clock.

Key structures:

Now, Often and Always

He rarely gets up before 10 o'clock.

We frequently have lunch at this restaurant.

I am reading in bed.

Do you ever read in bed?/我以为是:Have you ever read in bed?

A

1, I am looking out of my window. I can see some children in the street. The children are playing football. They always play football in the street. Now a little boy is kicking the ball. Another boy is running after him but he cannot catch him.

2, I carried my bags into the hall. "What are you doing?" my landlady asked. "I am leaving, Mrs. Lynch," I answered. "Why you leave?" she asked. "You have been here only a week." "A week too long, Mrs. Lynch," I said. "There are too many rules in this house. My friends never come to visit me. Dinner is always at seven o'clock, so I frequently go to bed hungry. You don't like noise, so I rarely listen to the radio. The heating doesn't work, so I always feel cold. This is a terrible place for a man like me. Goodbye, Mrs. Lynch."

B

1, She rarely answer my letter.

2, We never work after six o'clock.

3, The shops always close on Saturday afternoons.

4, Do you always go to work by car?

5, Our teacher frequently collects our exercise books.

6, We sometimes spend our holidays abroad.

7, I often buy CDs.

8, Do you ever buy CDs?

Special difficulties:

1, What a wonderful garden!

2, What a surprise!

3, What a lot of trouble he is causing!

4, What wonderful actors!

5, What a hard-working woman!

6, What a tall building!

7, What a terrible film!

8, What a clever boy you are!

9, What a pretty girl!

10, What a strange guy!

Sentence structure:

I've just arrived by train.

It was Sunday. I got up early to catch the train to London to visit my nephew Peter. He lived in a small village of London. I had not seen him for a long time. It was not a lovely day, and when I arrived at the station it was dark outside. I telephoned my nephew to tell him that I had just arrived by train and was going to see him, but he told me that he was still having breakfast! I could not believe it! So I asked again:"What are you doing?" "I'm having breakfast," he repeated. "Dear me," I said, "Do you always get up so late? It's one o'clock!" What lazy bones he was!

1,on Sundays 和 on sunday 的区别。另外,on the weekend指在周末,on weekends指每周,over the weekend特指本周末。

5,有两句挺有意思:we frequently have lunch at this restaurant. I frequently go to bed hungry.

3, What trouble he is causing!" /What a lot of trouble he is causing!/
