Lesson1 A visa interview
Officer: Good morning. May I have your documents?
Lisa: Good morning.Here they are.
Officer: Thank you. Now, please answer my questions honestly. What's the purpose of your visit?
Lisa: I'd like to visit both New York and Boston for vacation. You can see all the travel details in my itinerary(旅程).
Officer: I see. What will be the duration of your stay?
Lisa: I'll be in the U.S. for one month.
Officer: Where will you be staying?
Lisa: In New York I will be staying at my cousin's house and in Boston I'll be staying at The Regis Hotel. Here is my cousin's address and my hotel reservation.
Officer: Okey, well, everything seems to be in order.
Lisa: Thank you for your time, sir.
Lesson2 Book a flight
Andy: Hello. Is this Enjoy Travel Agency?
Sara: Yes, sir. How can I help you?
Andy: I'd like to book a flight to Los Angeles Leaving this Thursday from Beijing.
Sara: Let me check that for you … We only have first-class tickets left. Would you like to book it?
Andy: No, I just want an economy class ticket. Are there any other flights departing(离开) before 10 a.m. on Friday?
Sara: There is a flight which departs at 8 a.m. on Friday and because of the time difference it will arrive into LA around afternoon local time. There are economy class seats available for 7,499RMB.
Andy: Great, please can I book one?
Sara: Certainly, sir. I just need to take down your details.
Lesson3 Book a hotel
Josh: Good morning. This is Brigit Hotel. How may I help you?
Emma: Morning. May I make a booking for three nights from next Tuesday?
Josh: Sure. Can I have your name, please?
Emma: Emma King. My husband and I'll be celebrating our anniversary. Do you have any suites or large double bed rooms available?
Josh: May I suggest the presidential suite? You can enjoy a discount if you book now. The room overlooks the beach. It's extremely spacious(宽敞) and comes with a complimentary(赠送) breakfast.
Emma: Sounds nice. How much is it?
Josh: With the discount it would be $300 per night.
Emma: OK. I'd like to book the presidential suite then.
Lesson4 Confirm your booking
Receptionist(接待员): Good afternoon, this is W Hotel. How can I help you?
Customer: I'm calling to confirm my booking for tomorrow. It should be for three nights and the name is Joe King.
Receptionist: Hold on. Let me just check that for you.
Customer: I made my booking last Thursday, if that helps.
Receptionist: Yes, I've got you down for three nights in a twin room from the 21st to 23rd of May. Is there anything else you need, sir?
Customer: Great. Is breakfast included in the fee?
Receptionist: Yes, it is. Breakfast is served from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. at our cafe.
Customer: That's great. Can the hotel collect me from the airport?
Receptionist: Yes, but there is a charge of $30.
Customer: Oh, so I'll just grab a cab instead.
Lesson5 Exchange currency(货币)
Customer: Good afternoon. Do you change foreign currency?
Staff: Yes, sir. What currency do you want to change?
Customer: Chinese yuan into British pounds.
Staff: How much do you need?
Customer: I need five hundred pounds. May I ask what the exchange rate is today?
Staff: It's on the board. 10 yuan to 1 pound. For your information though, there is a small service charge.
Customer: What's the service charge?
Staff: The service charge is two percent of the total amount. So, if you want 500 pounds you would need to give us 5,100 yuan.
Customer: Okey. Here is the money.
Staff: Thank you. Would you like that in large or small bills?
Customer: In large bills, please.
Lesson6 Cancel your flight
Staff: Hello, East Airlines. How can we be of assistance?
Customer: I'm sorry, but I have to reschedule(重新计划) my flight to a later date. May I cancel my current flight?
Staff: Yes, you can. Could you please tell me your full name?
Customer: Sure. My name is Zoe King, and the flight is from London to Paris, next Monday morning. Is there a penalty(罚金) for canceling my flight?
Staff: Yes. Our policy(方针) states(声明) that we will only refund(归还) you 80% of the
