Tibet is a significant autonomous region of China. The central government attached great importance to Tibet over the years, providing greater support for it.
Geographically,Tibet is in the remote border area, the social system of Tibet remained one of theocratic feudal serfdom before the democratic reform in 1959.
As a result,in all respects, Tibet started late and developed slower than most of the other parts of China. In order to accelerate its economic development and facilitate common prosperity among all ethnic groups,the central government has pooled nationwide strengths to support Tibet development. Preferential policies were adopted. The central government gave strong support and special care in such as financial, material resources, technologies as well as human resources. This all contributed greatly to the rapid growth of Tibet.
The regional economy grows in high speed. In 2008, Tibet's fiscal revenue reached 46 billion yuan, 345 fold compared to that of in 1959. In recent 5 years, the central government has provided 94.7billion yuan to Tibet in financial subsidies.
As Tibet is developing, local people's livelihoods have highly improved.
Total deposits, financial deposits continued to grow rapidly, household savings also grew in high speed.
The totaled deposits in 2015 are 366.5 billion yuan, an increase of 18.86% over the same period of last year. What’s more, it had 25 times of 2000, 3598 times of1959. Financial deposits reached 23.3 billion yuan in 2015, an increase of 23.91%.
In particular, in 2015, household savings reached 65.4 billion yuan, an increase of 16.87% over the same period of last year. Household savings recently 38 years had seen a sustainable increase in quality and reaching a new high in 2015. The number in 2015 was 2 times that of 2010, was 6704 times that of 1959. That was a great success!
At the same time, the basic necessities of food, clothing, housing and transportation have been greatly improved. Consumption Index shows that people spent more in food and clothing. Particularly, the Consumption Index of entertainment, education and travel also rose quickly.
It suggested that not only pay attention to material comforts but also they were pursuing spiritual enjoyment. All of it were based on the support of government for urban-rural development, employment, education, infrastructure and tax revenues.
In recent years,under the strong leadership of the regional Party Committee, Tibet had lifted 130,000people out of poverty. Poverty alleviation systems in land, ecology, education and finance had improved. Tibet is vigorously promoting to become a well-off society.
