Chapter 2: Wilbur.
Fern loved Wilbur more than anything else. She milked Wilbur in the morning as soon as she got up and when she came back home from school she milked Wilbur too. When Wilbur was five weeks old, Mr. Arable made a wooden box filled with straws and put it under an apple tree with Wilbur in it. Fern worried about if Wilbur would be cold outside, but when she peeked behind the door and found Wilbur was able to dig a tunnel with its snout and covered itself under the straws, she felt relieved. Wilbur liked to follow Fern wherever she was, of course she couldn't bring it to school. One day Mr. Arable told Fern that Wilbur had to be sold because it had been too big. Fern didn't want to let it go and be killed, so Mrs. Arable gave Fern advice that she could sell it to her Uncle who always raised pigs. Fern called him and asked him if he could buy a little pig in only six dollars. Uncle Zuckerman was glad to have a pig and then Wilbur was moved to its new home, a manure pile in the cellar of Zuckerman's barn.
