Analysis of Traffic Accidentsin China
From 2012 to 2015
At present, traffic accident injury has become the eighth biggest cause of death in the world, and is the main cause of death for young people of 15~29 years old. Current trends show that, without emergency action, road traffic injuries will rise to the fifth major cause of death by 2030. China is one of the world's most serious countries who own a high number of people killed in traffic accidents.China has been the world's largest number of traffic fatalities every year for more than a decade.
However, from 2012 to 2015, the numbers of traffic accidents, injuries and economy loss are gradually decreasing. Thanks to the strict prohibition of drunk driving and new traffic regulations published, the circumstance is getting better to a certain extent. The following graph directly shows that the total quantity of traffic accidents is reducing from 2012 to 2015, which means it is good trend for road safety and the society.
But the fatalities are still remains in the same level. As mentioned above, we canalso see that the death toll shows a gentle trend. The fatality rate of trafficaccidents in some advanced countries is much lower than that of China. Thenumber of traffic accidents in Japan was three times in China in 2012, but thenumber of deaths was only 4611. Therefore, road traffic safety in China stillhas a large gap.
From the data collected, we can also find that where the traffic accidents occurred isregular. It happened in the southeast cities most, which relevant to thedevelopment of economy. The frequently cities are Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu andso on, which are all advanced cities. Actually, there are more cars and peoplein these cities so the number of traffic accidents is higher relatively.
Nowadays,one of the biggest problems in China is that the numbers of traffic accidents anddeath toll are still high. This problem reflected in many ways, including trafficregulations and enforcement, the safety consciousness and moral quality, thesocial ability of self-help and mutual aid rescue system construction, whichcan prevent the threat of traffic accidents and deaths. It is hoped that thegovernment, the society and the individual can pay more attention to the roadtraffic safety construction in China which still has a long way to go.
