White Horse Lake is now rich in vegetation while at that time it was totally treeless. When the sun shone bright on a windless day, it would be nice and warm.
The whole family would then sit in the courtyard to bask in the sun, and even have lunch in the open air like we did in summer.
以下是逐句解析：
第一句：现在白马湖到处都是树木了，当时尚一株树木都未种。
译文：White Horse Lake is now rich in vegetation while at that time it was totally treeless.
单词使用
“到处都是树”，参考译文是“rich in vegetation”，vegetation，其真正含义是 plants in general 植物，草木〔总称〕相比于plants，vegetation更为正式。例如：The mountain has an abundance of lush green vegetation.
可以用以下词语和句式进行表达。
例如：The White Horse Lake is now well grown with trees或者
Trees now grow everywhere in White Horse Lake再或者
The White Horse Lake is now covered with trees.
“一株树木都未种”，参考译文使用形容词treeless，于句式非常简洁，不必翻译 “种”这个动词。
第二句：太阳好的时候，只要不刮风，那真和暖得不像冬天。
译文：When the sun shone bright on a windless day, it would be nice and warm.
用了意译法，让句子更加灵动与简洁。
shine的过去式是shone。
我们看到“只要”，也许会用as long as, 看到“不像”也许会用 not like
于是这句翻译成，When it was sunny, as long as there was no wind the weather would be warm which was not like the cold winter. 这样虽然也可以表意，但非常琐碎。
“不像冬天”，因为无论中文还是英文读者都可以理解“不像冬天”就是指风和日丽，暖冬日和。所以处理成“it would be nice and warm. ”
第三句：一家人都坐在庭间曝日，甚至于吃午饭也在屋外，像夏天的晚饭一样。
译文：The whole family would then sit in the courtyard to bask in the sun, and even have lunch in the open air like we did in summer.
“一家人”，the whole family。
“坐在庭间”，用courtyard或者yard都可以。
“曝日”，白话就是晒太阳，用bask in，其含义就是“to enjoy sitting or lying in the heat of the sun or a fire 〔舒适地〕晒太阳，取暖”
还可以表达“〔某地〕沐浴在阳光中”，例如，The station was basking in afternoon sunshine as they arrived.
bask in还可以表达，to enjoy the approval or attention that you are getting from other people 沉浸在〔别人的赞许或关注中〕例如：She basked in the admiration of the classmates.
用soak up the sunshine，也是正确的，意思是晒太阳浴。
sunbath也是太阳浴的意思，但它是名词，如果表示“晒太阳浴”，要加do
“屋外”这个词，译文中的in the open air是一个固定词组，就是表达在户外，在露天。
用outside the house，也是正确的。
