读完以上的文字，你感觉如此？还没来得及细细体会书中的深意时，我已经决定写这本书。再探索作者、绘者以及绘本背后的故事时，验证了我的直觉：这是一本蕴含着力量的书。
作者宫泽贤治生于1896年。他多才多艺，佛教、文学、自然、农业、音乐是他人生的要素，短短在世三十七年，大约写了八百首诗，一百多篇童话，而生前只是自费出版了诗集《春天与阿修罗》和童话集《要求很多的餐馆》，且大半卖不掉。随着时代的变迁，人们才读出人文、和平，和他对自然的热爱，对宇宙的憧憬，对科学的关心。有人统计过，他作品中出现胡植物有五百多种，动物一百四十多种，其中鸟类五十一种，哺乳类四十一种。
本书中的第一句话，“不畏凤，不畏雨”是他的名句，无人不知。1929年，美国引发世界经济大萧条，也殃及日本，1931年遭遇冷害，农村也陷入危机，贤治卧病，深秋时写下这首诗，死后才被发现。原文没有主语，可想而知，他是要和农民们一起，“干旱时流下眼泪”，“冷夏时坐立不安”。2011年3月11日，日本发生大地震，人们被贤治的诗句鼓舞，不向灾难屈服，不向风雨低头，唱起“不畏风雨”，为自己加油！
绘者山村浩二，资深艺术动画导演，以改编卡夫卡荒诞短片小说《乡村医生》而著名。用其隐喻和诗性的手法，描绘着贤治所说的“心像素描”。图画中，延续了贤治对大自然的热爱，画面中丰富的植物、动物以及生活场景，在现了日本农村的场景。
