Wechat is the most important and popular social app in China. It’s Chinese Facebook but we can even do more things by it than Facebook, including paying money, ordering food, playing games and so on.
The one who developed Wechat is Zhang, a really famous person who also developed foxmail in the past and sold it for lots of money. In his Wechat development team, creativity is highly encouraged and failure is allowed. When Wechat is first launched, there are other similar competitors in China that wanted to be the Chinese Facebook. But Wechat progressed in front of them and won the match. That’s because the update frequency of Wechat was like one or two times each weak. All creative ideas were put in the app to test out if they worked. If it failed, it didn’t matter, just launch an update the next day to delete that one and put in another new idea. This is one key point that led to the final success of Wechat in the social app competition.
Another important factor is that there’s no middle level management. The department that developed Wechat uses inner mail that allows every employee to communicate with everyone in the department. With inner mail, everyone can directly send his opinion, comment or new idea to the boss. This removes roadblocks and is beneficial for a creating a creativity-encouraging environment.
