part 1 Q&A
1. Use three sentences to describe Onoda’s story.
Onoda burned the leaflets, and he and his men stayed hidden and continued to fight. Once again, he refused to believe that the information was real. Once again, he believed the airdrop to be a trick by the Americans. Hiroo Onoda returned to Japan in 1974 and became a kind of celebrity in his home country. However, he became far more depressed than he’d ever been in the jungle for all those years. in 1980, Onoda packed up and moved to Brazil, where he remained until he died.
2. What can we learn from the Rock Star Problems?
Our values determine the metrics by which we measure ourselves and everyone else. Dave Mustaine achieved great fame and glory and felt like a failure anyway. This is because he’d adopted a crappy value based on some arbitrary comparison to the success of others. This value gave him awful problems
3. Can you name some values that you hold dear?
Innovation, curiosity, charity.
4. Do you have any good/bad values stated in the book? How those values affect your life?
Yes, I have any good values such as curiosity, honesty and Innovation. Because I am an art student. I need to attach great importance to collecting materials and harvest inspiration to create my works. Imagination is hard for me to give up. At the same time, I am glad that I can own it. On the contrary, I have any bad values such as popularity and material success. Maybe I have limited experience in the society. In the street, I can see that some people are dressed luxurious and buy famous brand bags. I think they are successful people and rich people. Even I should be such a person. I know I'm wrong, but the subconscious is hard to change, and I want to beat it.
part 2 My Ideas
The trick with negative emotions is to 1) express them in a socially acceptable and healthy manner and 2) express them in a way that aligns with your values.
